About IEEE
Founded in 1884, the IEEE is a non-profit organization with over 460,000 technology and engineering professionals in 150 countries. Through its members, the IEEE is a catalyst for technological innovation. IEEE is a leading authority in a broad range of areas, such as computer engineering, electric power, aerospace and consumer electronics, biomedical technology, and telecommunications, to name only a few. IEEE publishes 30 percent of the world’s literature in electrical engineering, computers, and control technology, and holds more than 300 major conferences and 6,000 local meetings annually. Recognized as essential guides for every industry, more than 800 active IEEE standards are used today, with 700 currently under development.

About IEEE Italy Section
On 29 June 2005, a single IEEE Italy Section was established by merging the previous branches: the North Italy Section and the Central & South Italy Sections. You can find the IEEE Italy Section Bylaws here.
The IEEE is divided into 10 regions; the Italy Section belongs to Region 8, which comprises Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The IEEE Italy Section has been recognized with the 2023 MGA Outstanding Large, Section Award, based on 2022 activities. The Award is given each year to the best large Section worldwide. The Award Ceremony took place in Ottawa during the IEEE Section Congress in August 2023.
